SGPT

The test measures the quantity of Serum Glutamic-Pyruvic Transaminase (SGPT), an enzyme, in a patient’s blood. However, high levels may point to liver damage or disease. This procedure is usually used for diagnosing and monitoring liver conditions like hepatitis, cirrhosis, and liver cancer. 3. Nerve damage from the needle

Limitations of this test are:

1. The test may not pick up liver disease early on.

2. Increased levels of SGPT can be due to other conditions like muscle injury or celiac disease.

3. It might not distinguish between different types of liver diseases.

For the SGPT test, there is only one parameter that has to do with SGPT enzyme concentration in blood. This level is measured in units per litre (U/L).

Medical practitioners search for high levels of SGPT indicating liver damage or malfunctioning. Age and underlying ill health problems affect these findings.
